Les arrondissements de Londres sont la composante la plus importante du gouvernement local. Les arrondissements sont gérés par le 'London Borough Council'. Ces arrondissements ont été créés pour la première fois le 1er avril 1965. L'élection du 'London Borough Council' a lieu tous les quatre ans. Auparavant connues sous le nom de « shadows », les premières élections pour le « London Borough Council » ont eu lieu en 1964.
